Literature Review Blog #2

As Michael Moffatt describes his time at Rutgers University he describes his feelings toward the common Rutgers phrase, the "RU Screw."

Moffatt, Michael. Coming of Age in New Jersey: College and American Culture. New Brunswick : Rutgers University Press, c1989. Print.

Key Terms and Quotes:
"...official culture and student future..." (page 13).
"...
bureaucratic Rutgers as a set of complex rules and regualtions just waiting to catch you off your guard- into the Rutgers as “ The Rutgers Screw” (page 13).

"
Just as it did not treat the students as individuals, it was not a ‘you’ or a ‘we,’ and it was only sometimes a ‘they’;more often, it was an ‘it.’ And if you gave it half a chance, what would it do for you?  It would certainly not care for you.  Rather, it would fornicate with you” (page 14).

Having his own personal experiences at Rutgers University helps give another perspective of how the institution functions and treats its students.

  1. Can you fix the background or the text color to make this more readable?
